Summer has been good around here. We’ve tried to take it easy and catch our breath where we could, but we’ve also spent plenty of hours getting our first real production runs sorted out.
It feels good to finally be getting closer to having finished gear in our hands instead of just staring at sketches, fabric swatches, and spec sheets.
Getting Backcountry Production Moving
Our main focus over the last few months was locking in the Backcountry lineup and getting the sewing lines rolling.
Sourcing the heavy-duty raw materials we needed took a little extra patience this time around. With everything going on globally, a lot of the tough, high-grade textiles and hardware we use are in high demand across defense and industrial sectors right now. It took a bit more back-and-forth to get our rolls allocated, but everything is now sorted out and production is running.
Workwear on the Bench
While the outerwear is in assembly, we’ve been spending time testing out our first batch of workwear and shop gear to make sure it holds up the way it should.
- Three Work Pants: Different cuts depending on what you're doing, ranging from heavy reinforced pants for hard abuse, to flexible utility pairs for when you need to move around easily.
- Tension Belt & Kneepads: A low-profile belt built to hold things in place, and flexible kneepads designed to slide directly into the pants.
- Stash Knife: A handy little fixed blade made from carbon steel with a simple Scandi grind, making it easy to sharpen and touch up yourself in the field.
Daily Staples
We’ve also put together some straightforward everyday pieces for the downtime between riding and working:
A few clean heavyweight t-shirts and long sleeves, thick hoodies for chilly mornings in the garage, a flannel shirt with a bit of stretch so it doesn't bind across your shoulders when you're working, and comfortable merino wool socks for boots.
A Fun Season Ahead
It’s going to be a relief to start showing real photos of the actual products soon instead of technical drawings.
Even though Mountain Grit has been around for over a year now, this upcoming winter is when we actually start shipping orders out and getting into a regular, steady work pace. That’s something we’re really looking forward to.
Thanks for following along. It’s going to be a great season.
